THROWBACK TUESDAY

In the Crochet world we have an “oldie but goodie” or vintage classic that we call the Pineapple Doily.

I believe the Doily is the first project most of us completed after learning all the basic crochet stitches and I am almost certain there was a pineapple somewhere in the design.

Pineapples and Doilies are classic in my book. I have seen hundreds and I know any one of us can come up with more designs using the same technique it is that versatile.

Doilies brighten up any space with that old world charm, that brings elegance and simplicity to our lives.

I have seen the simpler ones to the really complex ones and to tell the truth they are not at all difficult to master.

So, please come along as we enjoy the beauty of doilies with the pineapple design, thanks to my friends Pinterest and Google 🙂

Have you ever done a Pineapple Doily?

BULLION AND BRUGES LACE CAL DAY 10

Our Road Trip aka Bullion and Bruges Lace CAL has entered its 10th day, and we had to do some revisions, I hope you have caught up by now.

Today we will continue with another row: chain 2 and close your last row on the first stitch of your 3 DC, Psst…I must admit that I don’t like how this join looks but..I am not stressing, this is our practice doily 🙂

This row is simple and fast: 3 DC – 2 ch – 3 DC in each loop and repeat. The corners are a little different but simpler.

Corners: are simple skip two loops and continue on the other side of the corner, please check photographs.

This row shouldn’t take too long,  it is easy and relaxing, we need to calm our nerves for the mountains and rough roads which I believe will be nerve-wracking…

BULLION AND BRUGES LACE CAL DAY 5

Our Road Trip is entering day 5: I hope you have completed the 4 motifs and your 40 inch tape, we will need this to start the second stage of the doily.
Please fold your tape in half, mark the spot then fold in half again, sew the tape to make a continuos tape, then you pin your motifs and tape in place. My design look like this, but you can design your own.

QUICK UPDATE

Here is a quick update on my WIPs:My tablecloth is getting too frilly sooo, I need to redesign this row (sad) I need to unravel this row….

My Big Bag has taken a sharp turn, I have decided that granny squares are irresistible and it is time to include them in my design. They are too cute especially in those beautiful Afghans that are popping up all over WordPress, I know you understand…

My doily is slowly evolving, she may morph along the way…

I am always invigorated when I visit all the other crochet blogs. And don’t forget that I’m still waiting for someone to claim the Gift Pack…

Tips: Always count as you go along, that way you will keep from making costly mistakes and after finishing a row just give it a quick go over so you don’t have an unwelcome surprise in your next row.

Well that’s all for now Artisans!!! see you soon!!!
