How is everyone doing? are you totally caught up now? 🙂

Okay today we start the second crochet gift cover. This one is more lacy so we need a little thinner yarn and this means it is going to grow a little slower.

But don’t be too concerned it will grow fast enough because we are going to have more open spaces.

To start please use the same starting rows as our first bottle ( you can find the instructions in Day 1 post), after you have the bottom of the bottle covered you continue here: chain 12 (the 2 extra chains will make your first DC of the pair then you in the middle of your DC pair from previous row, repeat. The pattern is 10 CH – 2 DC.

To close this row you need to make one DC and slip stitch on chain 2 (bottom up) of the starting 12 chains.

Next, we need to start fitting our bottle so we are going to do a taper. To taper we chain 5 and just like the last row we are saving 2 chains to make our first DC for our pair of DC.

Next, we do 1 DC in the middle of the loop from the previous row then we chain 3 and make pair of DC in the middle of the previous DC and repeat. The pattern is 3 DC – 2 DC and repeat. Close row.

Next, we want to keep up the tapering effect:  we chain 4 and 1 DC – 2 ch – 1 DC in the single DC from previous row then chain 2 and instead of 2 DC in the pair from previous row you want to put only 1 DC in the middle. The pattern is: 1 DC – 2 ch – 1 DC – 2 ch – 1 DC – 2 ch and repeat. Close the row like we did before.

This row will finish the tapering effect. Your work should fit snug on your bottle and introduce a little texture.

Chain 3 and make a DC cluster of 5 DC in the cone we made of 1 DC – 2 ch – 1 DC from the previous row then chain 3 and repeat. Close the row with a slip stitch.

Next, we chain 6 and then DC one in the cluster start and another at the end of the cluster. then repeat.

When you reach the end of the row don’t worry about closing with a slip stitch just continue the same pattern but with a twist the 2 DC will be in the middle of the loop of the previous row.

Okay, that is enough homework for the weekend. As always check the photographs for a visual.

Have a safe and productive weekend, See You soon…

Is everyone caught up? YES!!!

Ok, now we want to put the finishing rows on our cover: please chain 4 and anchor in each space between the DC of the previous row. This is how we do loops or frills, continue for any amount of rows you want for your desired look.

I just did rows and rows until I had no more yarn. Then I went for more of my left over yarn and did a braid and string it through the holes and tied it off. Voila!! we just completed our first cover.

So, this is all for today. Later when we have finished both bottles we will add some bling.

Have a great day and don’t stress it…..See You Soon… 🙂
